Tenuta di Trinoro Tasting
High up in the hills, a little way south of Montepulciano, is one of Tuscany’s most isolated new estates, Tenuta di Trinoro. Andrea Franchetti created the estate in virgin wine territory in 1992, choosing to bypass the preferred local grape, Sangiovese, in favour of Bordeaux varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
This is an amazing property, and Andrea Franchetti is producing trail-blazing wines. With tiny yields, strict selection, top-quality oak and every other tool available to rich winemakers, the wines at Tenuta di Trinoro are phenomenal. From the outset Andrea's wines have astonished the wine world with their richness and complexity.
