Abadal

The Abadal wine came into being in the Catalan region of El Bages. The vines are cultivated on carefully structured terraces on a hilly terroir influenced by a continental-mediterranean climate. With a low rainfall, the hot days and cold nights create a microclimate of special contrasts. Resulting in wines with a character all of their own, both structured and intense.

Abadal wines are a living testimony to their painstaking production. They are created at Masies d¡¯Avinyo, a bodega that recovered the winemaking tradition of the lands of the Bages in 1983, enriching it with a new vision of the future.

The selection of the grape is meticulous and the harvest is carried out according to the variations of the land and the different degrees of maturation. Once in the bodega, hard work is carried out to capture all the information stored in the grape. Fermented in steel tanks that are thoroughly respectful of the grapes, the wines are aged in French, American and Central European oak casks. Subject to strict quality controls, the bottling plant begins the final phase of maturation of the wine, which ends with the uncorking.

Abadal Picapoll 2009/2010
Pale golden yellow with waxen border. Very aromatic wine with a high presence of exotic and tropical fruits such as pineapple, and stone fruits (peach) on an elegant floral background. When it opens up, herbal and honeyed touches are displayed. Very fresh and intense wine, which coats the mouth with fresh and very tasty sensations. Wide wine with a good smooth mid palate. The same sensations noticed in the nose are appreciated again but the acidity provides them with a greater freshness. Very good finish with a bitter touch.

On the background, there is a taste of ripe plum, cocoa and spicy notes of pepper and clove; which shapes a wine dominated by the freshness of the fruit. The palate is broad, with a sense of power and elegance at once, provided by hard tannins typical of cold clay soils like those of Pla de Bages. Serve between 16-18 ¡æ
