A quality producer of Bordeaux, using a blend of cabernet and merlot from some of the best local vineyards. The wines are made in the traditional Bordeaux technique.
Located between Landerrouat and Saint Foy La Grande, total 60 ha vineyards, the sloping vineyards receive full sun exposure and good drainage, producing fully ripe grape with excellent tannin structure.
The vineyards are in a single block on a mixture of silt and sand mixed with gravel. This is not a terroir likely to result I powerful wines, so Chateau Caplong aims for finesse instead. Sometimes compost is added to the soil, but no fertilizers.
The workers go through the vineyards very carefully before the harvest, removing any bunches or parts of bunches that show signs of uneven maturation.
