Casa de la Ermita

Casa de la Ermita is situated on the Jumilla appellation, one of the most well known viticultural regions in Spain. Jumilla is noted for its particularly old vineyards, producing xceptionally high quality wines. The 120 hectare vineyard is situated at a high altitude (700m ¨C 850m) at the foot of the ¡°El Carche¡± mountain and is exposed predominantly to the North. The poor, arid soils, ideal for growing vines, welcome a variety of local grapes (Monastrel, Tempranillo) together with international varieties such as Cabernet. Casa de la Ermita¡¯s talented oenologist uses the newest wine making techniques and the best machinery available to ensure a consistently high level of production. Vinifcation is carefully monitored, temperatures are controlled and the wine aged in both French and American new oak barrels.

Casa de la Ermita¡¯s wines have been recognized by critics from around the globe and have received many international wine awards. Robert M. Parker Jr. gave Casa de la Ermita 90 points on June 2001¡¯s issue of Wine Advocate saying ¡°... it is an amazing offering for the price...¡±.

Casa de la Ermita Viognier 2009
Clean and brilliant, it appears with a glint of greeny yellow. Appealing fruity touches. There are outstanding aromas of apricot, peaches, melon, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, orange blossom and jazmin. Kind, enveloping, and creamy. Its acidity has a continuity, a lengthy persistence with a slightly bitter finish which incites a further sampling. Ideally matched with white fish, sea rice dishes, and fresh cheeses.
Casa de la Ermita Monastrel Ecologico 2008
100% Monastrel. No artificial pesticides are used.  The vineyards are sprayed with pheromones to control the insect population. Garnet in colour with dark violet edges. Sensations of fruits with floral and liquorice notes.  Mature tannins with aromatic balsamic aromas and a spicy peppery finish. Pair with spicy red meat dishes, pasta with tomato sauce, sausages and hearty roast dishes.
Casa de la Ermita Crianza 2007
Intense garnet red colour. The nose feels a great intensity of black mature fruit (blackberry and prunes) together with Mediterranean herbs (thyme and rosemary), minerals, toasted notes, fine cedar wood, spices (clove and cinnamon) and cocoa. The mouth is juicy and well structured, with good presence of dried black fruit. Good and well integrated tannin.
Casa de la Ermita Roble Coupage Convenc 2009
Purple-violet red colour (mid-high intensity). Red riped fruit, lactic, balsamic, light toasted and mineral notes in the nose. On the mouth appears a plenty fruity sensation, aromatic woods, cocoas and white spices. Middle and noble tannic structure. It evokes freshness and fruity, leaving a very pleasant taste in mouth. Remarkable persistence.
Casa de la Ermita Reserva 2004
Grape varieties : Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah
Deep cherry red in colour. It is complex on the nose with balsamic notes, hints of chocolate, coffee, toffee and mild spices. On the palate it is deep, intense and well rounded, fresh and balsamic with great fruit. This wine possesses great structure with a smooth long and persistent finish. Good match with roast meats, red meats, game and medium to cured cheeses. We recommend the decanting and airing for one hour to best appreciate this wine.
Casa de la Ermita Petit Verdot Crianza 2006
Very deep red in colour, almost opaque, with a deep purple rim. Aromas of ripe, black fruits such as plum can be detected with floral notes of violet and lavander with an elegant hint of orange. On the palate following its initial sweetness, flavours are mainly dominated by over-ripe black fruits, however there are hints of chocolate & coffee. Tasty, sumptuous, strong and elegant with a fresh and balsamic lengthy finish.
Casa de la Ermita Crianza Idilico 2006
Scarlet red color with purple hues. On the nose aromas of underbrush, broom and wet earth, if we wait a moment notes of mint and spices (cloves and pepper) appear. In the mouth we find a dense wine, concentrated and fruity. Elegant tannins, leaving a greedy final feeling, with hints of chocolate.
Casa de la Ermita Blanco Dulce 2009
Grape varieties: 100%Viognier
Tropical fruit aromas such as apricots, pineapple, and mango combine with floral notes of blossom and jasmine. Very well balanced on the palate, displaying a wonderfully harmonic sweetness with sensations of white berries and fruits and a lingering finish. Excellent served with fruit salads, and desserts such as meringue and apple pie. Equally good with duck pâtes & foie gras.
Casa de la Ermita Dulce Monastrell 2008
Purple red well-covered, almost opaque. A development of good touches of wild, extremely ripe fruits, with touches of spices and sweetness. It shows a good harmony, developing well with wild fruits purée. Tasty, kind, persistent and with an adequate tannin, which counteracts the sweetness, which is not excessive. Match for desserts containing red or dark fruits and chocolates. Blue cheeses.
Pico Madama 2006
The 2006 Pico Madama is a blend of 50% Monastrell and 50% Petit Verdot. The Monastrell was aged for 13 months in American oak, while the Petit Verdot was raised for 13 months in French oak. It offers up an aromatic array of wood smoke, graphite, lavender, blueberry, and blackberry. Firm on the palate with excellent richness, it has plenty of spicy black fruit flavors, a hint of tobacco, and balsamic, and enough tannin to evolve for 3-4 years. It will be at its best from 2012 to 2021.
