Chasse-Spleen
Chateau Chasse-Spleen is the leading estate of Moulis, on the left bank of the Gironde. It regularly outperforms many of the Médoc’s more renowned classed growths and has been ranked as high as a Troisième Cru by many critics (such as Robert Parker).The property’s history may be traced back to 1560 when records demonstrate that there were vines planted on the estate. The estate’s unusual name literally means Chase Away the Blues, though no one can explain its mysterious origins.The wines are typically deeply-coloured and full-bodied on the palate, displaying oodles of ripe, black blackberry, cherry and plum character, minerals and sometimes hints of chocolate, with excellent depth and concentration.

Chateau Chasse-Spleen Blanc 2008
This is a bright, white wine with shades of silver within. On the nose the aromatic blend of vanilla, brioche, smoke, pepper, peach, apple, hawthorn and orchids. In the mouth this wine is fresh and full of the flavours of citrus fruits and green apples. Later the wine takes on a different note and reveals a seductive blend of vanilla and pepper. The acidity of this wine has a touch of minerality that brings a close to the wonderful flavours. This is a wine that has a beautiful balance; it must be enjoyed in its youth. |

Another sleeper of the vintage from this top-notch Moulis estate, this wine Shows a wonderful nose of crushed blackberry and blueberry, with black licorice. Full-bodied, offering polished, silky tannins and a touch of mineral, mint and a touch of wood on the moderately long finish. 2012+.

L’Heritage de Chasse-Spleen 2008
Grape Varieties : 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot. Hand-picked grapes to fermentation and aging, aging in casks for 12 months, of which 5% of are new barrels. In this way the wine shows so thick, soft and smooth texture, entrance with fresh fruit flavor. Excellent quality for tannin, long aftertaste. |
