Chateau Guiraud
Premiers Crus
Château Guiraud, a Sauternes Premier Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification, has just obtained organic farming certification. It is the first and the only one of the Premiers Grands Crus Classés in the 1855 Bordeaux classification to obtain such certification, which was initiated by director, Xavier Planty, in 1995. Guiraud’s decision to adopt organic viticultural methods is shaping the new style of the property’s wines, putting greater emphasis on purity, intensity and elegance.

G de Guiraud 2009
Crisp, waxy nose with aromas of gooseberry, guava, banana and grass. On the palate, clean smooth entry. Delicate and balanced with a crisp complex finish. Very pleasurable. |

Chateau Guiraud 2002
2002 is a very fine year for this region, possibly superior to any of the vintages between 2000 and 1991. This is a sweet, concentrated, intense effort that was showing well in the bottle. A medium gold color is accompanied by notes of caramelized oranges, citrus, honeysuckle, and creme brulee. Full-bodied and opulent, with tremendous intensity, good acidity, and a persistent finish that lasts nearly a minute, this large-scaled, thick, heady Guiraud is one of the finest examples from this estate. |
