Chateau Mont-Perat
The estate at Chateau Mont Perat
has been making great wines for hundreds of years.
Mentioned in 1864 in the famous F¨¦ret wine guide
as one of the best vineyards in Premieres Cote
de Bordeaux, Chateau Mont Perat was brought by
the Despagne family in 1998. The estate has around
105 Ha of grapes (mainly Merlot) and the wines
are made in the Grand Cru style. Chateau Mont
Perat's high quality wines are an excellent example
of the potential of the Cotes region.
The
estate came under the spotlight in 2005 when it
was mentioned in the hugely popular Japanese manga
series <<Drop of the Gods>>. The wine
was likened to the music from the English band
Queen and almost immediately following publication
the number of Chateau Mont Perat devotees soared.
Since then the wine has gone from strength to
strength. Each recent vintage has shown great
intensity of fruit and lush ripe tannins. The
wines are ready to drink upon release and can
keep for many years.

Chateau
Mont Perat Blanc 2007
This is a nice wine, with rich, concentrated
honeysuckle and melon notes, no real evidence
of wood in the aromas or flavors, but actually
it is barrel fermented. The wine is nicely
textured, fleshy, and best drunk now or over
the next 2-3 years. |
