Chateau Montrose
Deuxièmes Crus
Chateau Montrose is one of the younger members of the classed growths of the Médoc. The name mont-rose actually refers to the pink heather that covered the gravel before it was cleared in the establishment of the vineyard. Montrose is one of the leading properties of the region, and produces some of the longest-lived wines. It is widely accepted that Montrose is a property that offers great consistency through many vintages, poor and strong, and also has a propensity to age very well, with bottles from the first few decades of the 20th Century holding up very nicely. A slightly more recent vintage, the 1964, shows how Montrose may benefit from the aforementioned favourable climate. Since 1989 this property has consistently produced the finest wine in St-Estephe. In particular, 1989, 1990, 1996 and 2000 are all noteworthy efforts.

Chateau Montrose 2007
One of the stars of the vintage, the 2007 Montrose boasts a deep blue/purple color as well as a sweet bouquet of creme de cassis, crushed rocks, and spring flowers. Dense and opulent with silky tannins, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, a long finish, and no hard edges, this beauty should drink well for 15+ years.
