Domaine Joblot

Givry is closed to Chalon sur Saône and 6km south of Mercurey.  In Givry only red wine is made from Pinot Noir. Today, it is still under-appreciated in the United States and often represents excellent value. You should look for pure fruit with nuances of cherries and fine flowery fragrance. They do not usually have the depth and body of a Mercurey, but make this up in style and finesse. A well-made Givry is at its best 5 to 7 years from the vintage. Producer to watch for: Domaine Joblot.

Jean-Marc Joblot, one of the world’s great Pinot Noir producers, in order to “maintain adequate levels of natural acidity.” Since Joblot’s work in the vineyard always ensures moderate yields, his grapes achieve physiological ripeness earlier than most, providing him with the luxury of setting early harvest dates.
Robert Parker list Domaine Joblot as an outstanding five stars winery, one of Burgundy’s best red wine producers.
