Chateau
Moulin de Clotte
A
small group of vineyard regions on the right bank
in Bordeaux have been dramatically increasing
the quality of their wines over the past 20 years.
Leading this group is the region of Cotes de Castillon.
Located to the east of St Emilion, the soil type
of Cotes de Castillon is similar to its neighbor
making it perfect for growing Merlot.
One of the stars of the region, Chateau Moulin
de Clotte, is now internationally recognized for
the high quality of their wines. Owned by the
Lannoye family, the wines are a blend of 70% Merlot,
20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
A total of only 8 Ha of vineyards belong to the
estate and annual production is tiny at about
5000 cases only.
Made by the master winemaker Francois Despagne,
the wines are aged in oak for about 9 months.
The style is lush and fruity with soft tannins
and integrated oak. This is an estate that is
actively redefining the wines of Cotes de Castillon.

Chateau
Moulin de Clotte 2006
This wine was made with 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and was matured in 70% traditional oak barrels for 18 months and 30% French oak barrels for 10 months. A beautiful garnet colour, the wine displays lots of fruity aromas like strawberry, raspberry and vanilla. Fruity and oak on the palate with soft tannins, this is a delicious and well-balanced wine. |
