Mountford Estate
Established in 1991, Mountford Estate is a boutique vineyard and winery set on a hillside in a stunning park-like environment in the Waipara region, of North Canterbury New Zealand. The 18 year old vineyard grows on an area of land dubbed 'The Golden Mile'. A high amount of heat and light, combined with the soil make-up of clay on top of marl with active limestone deposits. We do place a huge importance on using bio-dynamic methods in the vineyard. Our passion is shown simply by tasting our wine. With attention to every detail, the result is an elegant, stylish and unforgettable experience.

Mountford Estate Hommage A L’Alsace 2010
Has an intense aroma profile that keeps changing in the glass. Some moments you can detect roses of Gewurtz and the mineral of Riesling and other times you can taste the pears of Pinot Gris and the white flowers of Muscat. This wine has a rich viscous texture. The acidity is there to keep the palate fresh but not to intrude in a dry aromatic wine. This is the first time a wine like this has been produced in the new world so there is no historical precedent for its ageing potential.

Mountford Estate Chardonnay 2008
Mountford Estate’s 2008 Chardonnay gives intense toast and floral notes with underlying orange blossom, peaches, cream and touches of nuts and chalk dust. Crisp, creamy, concentrated and very tight-knit, this medium to full-bodied Chardonnay presents a long finish of citrus fruits and chalk. It’s approachable now but should improve greatly with another year in bottle, drinking best form 2012 to 2015+.

Mountford Estate Pinot Noir 2008
Inky red with pencil thin ruby hue. Tamarillo's with Japanese Katsu curry flavours. Strong but fine tannins, with rich oily fruit weight, balanced by zingy acidity. Flavours are still primary with fresh plum cherry fruit dominating. This will reward those who have the patience to cellar.
