Prophet's Rock

Prophet’s Rock has established two vineyards right in the heart of Central Otago. The Lowburn vineyard situated on the lush Pisa Flats was chosen for its excellent sunshine hours, all important Waenga and Lochar soil types, and great aspect to the afternoon sun. Plantings of 26,000 vines comprising Pinot Noir and Riesling over seven hectares took place during Spring 2001 and the first harvest was enjoyed during Autumn 2004.The Bendigo vineyard was established one year later during Spring 2002, on the impressive slopes of Chinaman’s Terrace. This stunning site has impressive soil structures and sub soil layers of clays and calcified materials - which combine to produce fruit with the complex and layered flavours that Central Otago wines are renowned for. Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris have predominantly been planted here over eight hectares and the first harvest was in autumn 2005.

Prophet's Rock Pinot Noir 2007 This wine spent 16 months in French oak barriques. It was bottled unfiltered under premium quality cork. Deep concentrated fruit, floral and spice aromatics, rich, silky smooth, and complex, absolute pleasure and fine example of what makes top Central Otago Pinot Noir so special.
