Vincent Dureuil-Janthial
Rully is an excellent source for crowd-pleasing white Burgundies. The wines in general feature balanced tropical fruits and often a touch of honey or vanilla. There are a large number of vineyards here that have been given the title of Premier Cru, but the producer is most often the best indicator of quality and Domaine Vincent Dureuil is defnitely one producer worth seeking out.
Vincent Dureuil-Janthial’s vineyards are a kind of crossroads where, in the heart of Burgundy, geography and history intersect. Vincent Dureuil built their Rully domaine on some of the fnest soils of the Côte de Beaune / Côte de Chalonnaise. Historically, they are one of the oldest families in the village, traceable back to the 13th century.
In the interest of the vines and the soil they have chosen since 2001 to use no more herbicides, and as a further step down the eco-friendly route 60% of the domaine is now worked by organic methods and following the lunar calendar. When harvest time approaches, they do not hesitate to pick late. The aim is to let the grapes attain full maturity so as to yield wines that are taut and attractive, with a pleasing minerality and the proper touch of acidity. Their experience sets the seal on wines of great purity - wines with a frank and open personality.
